AGE GROUPINGS
In 2021, to play in an age group players must be Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 as at 1st July 2021. Dispensation for players who fall outside the cutoff date who wish to play with their school year group can be applied for. Permission is granted at the discretion of representatives from each club.
Under 8 Miniball for children in Year 2 will be held on Tuesdays between 4:15pm-6:15pm. The emphasis is on skills development with an introduction to the rules of the game via mini-games.
Under 10 Miniball for children in Yr 3 or absolute beginners in Yr 4. Teams will be divided into Divisions based on age and ability. Girls and boys can play in the same team and boys and girls teams may play each other. The strongest Miniball teams may be promoted to basketball later in the season in preparation for playing a full season of basketball in 2022.
Under 10 Basketball for children in Yr 4. Teams will be divided into Divisions based on age and ability. Girls and boys can play in the same team and boys and girls teams may play each other, though this is unusual.
Under 12 age group will be divided into divisions which will be based on age and ability. (ie teams of 11 year olds will generally be in a higher division than teams of 10 year olds.) Girls and boys can play in the same team. Mixed teams usually play in the Boys Competition.
Under 14 age group will be similarly divided into divisions as required. Teams may be all of one age within this group, or a mixture of ages within this group. Boys and Girls play in separate competitions.
Under 16 and Under 18 age groups will also be graded into divisions. Some flexibility in girls divisions may be required.
VENUES, GAME DAYS AND TIMES
Venues: Friday - Bendat Basketball Centre, Saturday - Bendat Basketball Centre AND Lords Recreation Centre
Girls Miniball, U10, U14, U16 and U18 games will be played on Fridays in 6 x 50 min timeslots with the first commencing at 4:10pm and the last at 8:20pm. The youngest teams play in the earliest timeslots.
ALL Girls U12 games will be played on Saturday afternoons.
Boys games will be played Saturdays in 50 min timeslots beginning at 8:00am, last game at 5:10pm with Miniball and U10 games in the morning and U16 & U18 games in the afternoon. Boys U12 and U14 games will be in timeslots ranging from morning to mid-afternoon with games at Bendat and Lords on rotation.
