U8 MINIBALL PROGRAMME
The 2021 U8 Miniball Programme will run for 16 weeks during Terms 2 & 3 on Tuesday afternoons commencing 27th April.
Introduced in 2014 the U8 Miniball Programme is a once a week session for 6 & 7 year olds in Year 2. Players are introduced to the basic skills and concepts of basketball in a fun and friendly environment that encourages learning the game rather than competing in games.
The 50 minute sessions are held in two timeslots on a Tuesday afternoon (4:20pm or 5:15pm) in Terms 2 & 3 with the early weeks concentrating on learning skills such as general ballhandling, passing, catching, dribbling and shooting, the middle weeks continuing to develop these skills adding in more mini-games to learn the mechanics and rules of the game, and the final weeks of the programme dedicated to playing more mini-games.
2021 REGISTRATIONS
CBBC will nominate up to 6 teams in the U8 programme in 2021 provided at least two are girls teams. This will limit the number of players we can accept and children must be in Year 2 or meet the age criteria (born between 1/7/2013 - 30/6/2014). Applicants must join the waiting list to be considered.
The U8 Waiting List will open on 21st January 2021. Successful applicants will be notified and invited to register in March. Failure to register when invited to do so will cause the offer to lapse.
Fees in 2021 are $230, being $80 CBBC Membership fees and $150 Perry Lakes Hawks Season Fee.
CBBC is a KidSport registered club eligible applicants can apply for a $150 fee subsidy through their local council.
